Happy Monday, dear friends! How was your weekend? I hope it wasn’t too cold in your parts. I can’t complain because L.A. has temperate weather year round. This weekend was full of exciting projects – we almost completed our baby registry (whew!), we started installing wooden floors in our ShuGar baby room, we saw Her, and we somehow managed to squeeze all our belongings from five different rooms into three to make space for the floor installation. All in two days!
Instead of my regular ShuGar Fix Mondays post, I will be doing something a little different to share that I have been awarded the Sunshine Award by my sweet bloggy friend Kristy, who blogs at Twist & Sprinkle! This is my second time receiving this awared and I am honored. Thank you, Kristy, for nominating me for this award – it definitely brought smiles and sunshine to my day! If you haven’t visited Kristy’s blog, it’s a must-read. She blogs about parenting, cooking, DIYing, and her profound love for her family. Every post she writes touches my heart, especially this post about The Struggles of being a Young Mom.
Now, onto the juicy details of the Sunshine Award.

- I have never gotten a pedicure.
- I think I have seen every episode of I Love Lucy a million times.

- One of my fashion dreams is to own a Kate Spade purse.
- I believe in myself.
- I am an expert twerker, even back when it wasn’t called twerking.
- I have lived in four different countries (including the U.S.).
Questions from Kristy
(1) What are you looking forward to in the new year?
The birth of my ShuGar boy!!!! There is nothing ever that can top that.
(2) What is one thing that inspires you?
Love – it’s what inspires my blog and it is what inspires my life. Is there anything more important than that?
(3) Describe the perfect date night in your eyes.
Go on a getaway to wake up with Mr. ShuGar in a boutique hotel, spend the day at a museum, followed by reading a book/writing at a cafe, then eat some yummy food at a trendy restaurant, to end the night watching an indie film. Perfection!
(4) What is your go to music when you’re having a bad day?
Anything my Zumba instructor plays – the music just gets me smiling and dancing.
(5) What is the most recent movie you watched? Was it good or bad?
We just saw Her yesterday. Loved it for so many reasons, but you’ll just have to wait and see why when I review it on the blog =)
(6) Name one positive thing and one negative thing you have learned about blogging.
Meeting bloggers like Kristy – it’s such a rewarding experience to connect to my readers. I am blessed. One negative thing is the work involved to create a great post. Also, you sort of become immersed in this race to gain more followers that it can sometimes overwhelm the experience.
(7) What is your favorite post you have written yet?
Probably my very first post about my dream to be a mother. I have come full circle since my blogiversary is coming up and I am 27 weeks pregnant. Life is so beautiful!
(8) What is one thing you and your best friend don’t have in common?
I actually consider Mr. ShuGar my best friend – he is the person who has been there for me unconditionally through the years. Mr. ShuGar and I are opposites in many ways. He can spend all day watching sports and I can spend all day watching wedding reality tv.
(9) Name your favorite dinner to make.
Any kind of pasta since, after all, it is my drug!
(10) What is the best memory you have from your childhood?
Going to visit my family in Mexico City is one of the most cherished memories of my childhood. I loved hugging my abuelito and spending time with my family watching tv or exploring the city. I only wish my family lived closer to us. Goodbyes were hard.
(11) Name your favorite quality about yourself.. and you can’t say anything!
I love that I love myself. It’s so sad when I see women with low self-esteem because we are worthy of love. If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect someone else to show you love? I am not arrogant, but I am have the confidence to believe I can do anything. I have my parents to thank for that.
