Dear ShuGar Boy,
My oh my how much you’ve grown in the past few weeks! Everyone we love now knows that you are living in my tummy. We are all eagerly awaiting for you to arrive. They say you are the size of a sweet potato (5.5 inches, 5 oz.)! Sometimes I wake up in the morning and still cannot believe you have chosen me to be your mommy. I am nervous because I want to be the best mommy in the world for you. I don’t have a lot of experience with little ones, so I am trying to study real hard to learn all I need to know to be your mom for the rest of your life.
I want you to know that your daddy adores you! Do you know that every morning he talks to you? He bends down to reach my belly and tells you, “Good morning, son” and “Good night, beautiful boy.” He does this every day just for you. Can you hear him? I know you hear me all day, but I want you to know that daddy is here and he loves you dearly. Daddy is working real hard to make the house ready for you. He’s been working with your Abuelito (grandfather) to prepare our home to welcome you.
Your Abuelito and Abuelita (grandmother and grandfather) are so excited to meet you! They taught me what love feels and look like and they will do the same for you one day. I feel so lucky that they will be here to hold you. They ask about you all the time and I tell them you are doing real well.
And your tia (aunt) has already given you a beautiful book you will love. She cares about you so much! She is planning your party now and I can’t wait to show you pictures of all she did to celebrate you.
Even though your daddy’s family is far away, they are already showering you with gifts! They just can’t wait to hug you one day. You are going to love them so much.
And, me, well…..my love for you grows each and every day a million times. I think I felt you kick the other day. Were you trying to tell me something? Sometimes, I find myself just day dreaming about holding you in my arms. I just never want to let you go. I want you to know that you are loved, even before you were born. There is love all around you and it’s growing.
