Hello sweet loves! Thank you for all your kindness you showed me for my post about mommy guilty and pressure. I find that blogging has really helped me get through these challenging times by reaching out to the blogosphere and sharing my heart. I cannot thank you enough.

Did you know I am a huge art lover? Pre-baby, Mr. ShuGar and I used to spend much of our free time exploring L.A.’s museums. My fave is LACMA because it has a little something for everybody and they currently have (had?) an exhibition of Diane von Furstenberg’s iconic wrap dress. I really want to see this one. I could spend hours at a museum just admiring the art. Every piece has a unique story to tell.

Well, one of my dreams is to begin to collect rad art in our home and create a gallery wall in every room. One day, when we move into a bigger home, I’d like to have fashion art displayed in my office. These pieces all speak out to me because they evoke style and whimsy with their brush strokes and colors. I like that they are all sort of free-flowing and not perfectly sketched out. I think there is beauty in its flaws. Plus, I’d love to wear each of these outfits. *Swoon*

Which one out of these four do you fancy? Are you an art lover? What kind of art do you enjoy?

Happy Monday to all!

Love Story

The All You Need is Love Project is a movement to inspire more love on this planet. The more we come together, the more love we can share. Join the revolution here!

TODAY’S LOVE TOPIC:

Share your favorite (or one of your favorite) love stories. In can be from any art form –  a movie, a book, a piece of art, or a story you were told. Describe it and share with us why you heart it.

Hello, loves! I am so excited about sharing today’s All You Need is Love Project. I hold this topic near to my heart since I am a major indie film nerd. It’s one of the main things Mr. ShuGar and I enjoy doing in our free time. However, Mr. ShuGar and I differ in our movie sensibilities when it comes to romantic films. He’s not a huge fan of sappy love stories, whereas I am a sucker for a classic “happily ever after” film.

I present to you my Top 5 romantic films of all time, in no particular order. These films get me all emotional every time, but they are certainly not Oscary-worthy, just tear-jerkers.

Guest Post: Tania @ Inspire My Fancy

I’m Tania Franco of the blog Inspire My Fancy! I blog about what inspires me, fashion, art, photography, and beauty. My blog is very special to me because it allows me to share, and express myself creatively. I have a full time job in the mental health field, which also allows me to be creative in a totally different way. Secretly I have always wanted to be a writer, have a job in fashion,  be surrounded by art, and live next to the ocean. So, Inspire My Fancy is my own little space where I get to do all of that.

Intro

I’m happy to be guest posting for Shugar Love today. As a mom myself, I’ve enjoyed sharing my mommy experiences with Carmen. I love this blog because Carmen always speaks from her heart, and makes me believe that my Mr. Right is out there somewhere for me. On that note, I am sharing two date looks with you all. First dates are exciting, and a little nerve racking sometimes, because you have no idea what to expect. Well, I have found feeling your best will make the date all that much enjoyable for you and your date. If you’re married, these looks will definitely impress your hubby on a date night!

If you have taken a quick glance at my bio at the top of my blog, you would know that I am self-professed Jane Austen fan. One of my favorite books is Pride and Prejudice and I consider Mr. ShuGar my Mr. Darcy. I love the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice movie version and watch it every time it comes on TV. I’ve been a bad Austen fan and haven’t watched the Colin Firth one, but it’s in my house and ready for viewing while I spend many days at home taking care of ShuGar Baby. I’ve been told it’s the best version so I’m looking forward to seeing it! I’ve also repeatedly enjoyed Emma, its modern counterpart Clueless, and The Jane Austen Book Club.

While lounging around waiting for ShuGar Boy to make his debut, Mr. ShuGar obliged my addiction and we watched the film Austenland. He knows I’ve desired to watch this film the moment I saw the trailer months ago. Here is what I thought about this indie film.

Guest Post: Elba @ Live Colorful

Hello ShuGar Love readers! I’m Elba Valverde, designer and blogger at Live Colorful. I am very excited to be here with you while my friend Carmen enjoys her first days as a new mommy of a gorgeous baby boy! So much excitement and love deserves a special celebration and what better way than talking a little bit about love and color.

Color fo Love

It was about 3 pm. An hour before the paint store closed when my mom had the bright idea of painting the walls a new color. We rushed to buy the paint and came home with a pair of brushes, rollers and two huge buckets of a color named Oaxaca. We made coffee and some cookies and started to paint the walls with this bright and deep orange tone.

Just like this one, I have several stories that I associate with special feelings of colors. That orange always reminds me of afternoons helping my mom with her crazy and impulsive ideas, making new cushions, designing clothes for our dogs or upholstering the dining room chairs. Mustard yellow reminds me of my dad, maybe because it is the color of his car, I remember how excited I was when I saw that yellow car coming into the garage at night. Blue is the color of my hubby for example, when we met I realized that he wore blue all the time! so I started calling him “azulito” (little blue) that by the way, he did not understand, back then he didn’t speak much Spanish, it was adorable.

After reading the beautiful posts that Carmen wrote a few days ago, love smells like chili peppers, I began to wonder, just like smells bring us those special memories, what about the things we see, what about colors?

There are a few colors that remind me how lucky I am to have such special people around me and that makes me feel so loved and happy, those are the colors of love for me, it could be orange, mustard or blue, or all of them together!

What about you, have you ever thought about what color represents love for you?

Thank you, sweet Elba, for contributing to our mutual love of color! Elba is an uber-talented blogger and designer who inspires me every day to live a colorful life. Please visit her gorgeous blog at Live Colorful to learn more about her passion for color!

Hello, dear friends! As FYI, I am currently on maternity leave, but have scheduled some ShuGar Lovin’ for you while I’m gone, including some rad guest posts from my bloggy friends. Please show them some love by reading their posts and visiting their awesome blogs. I’ve got lined up some quality content for you for then entire month of April so stay tuned! I’ll still be reading your comments and on social media so say Hi! I’ll be back by the end of the month with some heart updates.

As long as I can remember, I’ve had a hate-hate relationship with my hair. Just ask my mom and sis. They’ve witnessed several hair meltdowns in my life. Thing is my hair is not straight nor is it curly. It’s in the awkward middle part which doesn’t really allow me to play with it that easily. Luckily, I have this amazing hair stylist who does wonders with it so she saves my locks!

I’ve always crushed over other gal’s hair. The photos above all have dreamy styles that I’d love to try one day. As soon as I grow my hair out, I want to try the perfect bun in #5 or do it Hitchcock Vertigo style like #3. Then, I change my mind and want to have a short bob like #4 or go vintage like #6. You see….I’m all over the place when it comes to my hair.

My hair stylist did warn me post-baby I should expect to loose a significant amount of my hair due to hormone fluctuations. Oh goodie! I look forward to getting a much-needed cut whenever I have a chance in between baby love. I love pampering my hair!

Which hair style do you prefer on yourself? Do you have a certain look you like? Are you planning on doing a hair makeover any time soon? Share!

Work It

Hello, dear friends! Hope your weekend was fun-filled. We spent the weekend tying up loose ends and doing last minute details for ShuGar Boy. It’s kind of funny knowing any minute now he will want out. I’m so excited (and nervous) to welcome him into our lives!

As I tend to do, I am thinking ahead of life post-baby. At some point (not any time soon afterwards), I will get back into my work out routine. Many years ago, I lost a significant amount of weight and I am pumped to do it once again. I know what needs to be done and I will do it sensibly with time on my side. No diet, but just a consistent lifestyle routine of healthy eating and exercise.

In order to facilitate my goal to get back to pre-baby weight, I’m fantasizing of getting a whole new workout wardrobe. You must look cute while you sweat it out, right? These are some things I’ve been dreaming about. They inspire me to get motivated when the time comes. I just have to have that MILF tank. It has my name written all over it!

By the way, I am on the search for anyone who would like to guest post for my blog. I’ll be taking some time off and welcome any contributors. Message me at mrs.shugar@gmail.com if you are interested.

Hugs!

Low-Sugar Raspberry Muffin Love

Raspberry-Muffins-Closeup

Hello, ShuGar Loves! Hope you all had a nice week. I cannot thank you enough for all the love you’ve shown as we prepare to welcome ShuGar Boy any minute now. Your support has touched both of our hearts. So lucky to have each and every one of you in our lives!

This is an extra special post because I am a self-professed foodie who is challenged in the kitchen department. I do love my food, but I struggle with cooking because I lack the talent to invent recipes. Thank goodness I am surrounded by great cooks and one of them is my sister-in-law. She’s kind of a cooking goddess in my eyes because, as a practicing nutritionist, she makes delicious meals that are healthy.

The last time I saw her, she gave Mr. ShuGar and I these tasty raspberry muffins and I fell in love at first bite! I was happy to learn that they are low in sugar, which helps me now with my borderline gestational diabetes. Want to know the best part about this recipe? It’s super duper easy to make!

Hello, sweet ShuGar Loves! How was your weekend? I hope you were able to enjoy the first few days of Spring. I’ve heard some parts of the States got another snow. So sorry. Here in L.A., the weather was gorgeous and spring is definitely in the air.

For today’s post, I feel like it’s a testament to my transformation when it comes to my taste. I was inspired by my latest pink statement necklace find from Forever 21. I don’t really know when or why, but at some point in my life I swore off of the color pink. It might have been that I was in a phase of trying to challenge society’s perception of what is feminine. Throughout all these years, I stayed away from pink clothes, accessories, or home decor.

My, oh my, how life changes you. I am now a proud pink lover and this post is a testimony of my pink affection. If someone were to ask me what my favorite spring color is for this season it would definitely be pink. Hot pink, soft pink….I love it all! All these items above are on my wish list. Some have even sold out and I do hope they bring them back. By far, my favorite piece is that pink tulle skirt. I think every lady should have a tulle skirt in her closet. It’s classic and very Grace Kelly-esque.

Even though pink is all the rage for me right now, my fave color is still turquoise. It will always rock my world!

What are your thoughts when it comes to the color pink? Love it or hate it? What’s your favorite fashion/decor color?
