ShuGar Loves: The time has come to celebrate my sweet blog turning one! Yup, that’s right. It is my one-year blogiversary. Technically, the official start date was January 27th, but close enough. It all started with this post about My Heart in My Hands. The first line I ever wrote on this blog was, “I’m not a baby person.” Oh, how much my life has changed. I still don’t consider myself a baby person, except when it comes to ShuGar Boy. He makes my heart skip a beat!
It’s unbelievable how much blogging has enhanced my soul since this first post. I’ve always had a love for writing, ever since I was a chiquitita. For a long time, I was just taking memoir writing classes and writing in my journal. I did write some short writing pieces, but nothing at a consistent level like my blog. To be honest, I was scared to put my voice out there. Would anyone read it? Would anyone even care?
I have been embraced by the blogging community, family, and friends and it feels so wonderful! Thank you for following my ShuGar Love journey, whether you have been here since the beginning or are a new follower. I appreciate you reading, sharing, commenting, liking, tweeting, pinning, and any other way you show your love! I have big plans for this blog that are in the works. I am always trying to think of new ways to share my heart with you.
To celebrate my blogiversary and to show my appreciation, I am hosting my very first giveaway! I know bloggers do this all the time, but this is my very first one and I knew it had to be extra special for you. I am giving away to one lucky reader some things I heart, which include:

Happy Monday, dear friends! How was your weekend? I hope it wasn’t too cold in your parts. I can’t complain because L.A. has temperate weather year round. This weekend was full of exciting projects – we almost completed our baby registry (whew!), we started installing wooden floors in our ShuGar baby room, we saw Her, and we somehow managed to squeeze all our belongings from five different rooms into three to make space for the floor installation. All in two days!
Instead of my regular ShuGar Fix Mondays post, I will be doing something a little different to share that I have been awarded the Sunshine Award by my sweet bloggy friend Kristy, who blogs at Twist & Sprinkle! This is my second time receiving this awared and I am honored. Thank you, Kristy, for nominating me for this award – it definitely brought smiles and sunshine to my day! If you haven’t visited Kristy’s blog, it’s a must-read. She blogs about parenting, cooking, DIYing, and her profound love for her family. Every post she writes touches my heart, especially this post about The Struggles of being a Young Mom.
Now, onto the juicy details of the Sunshine Award.
Happy New Year, ShuGar Lovelies! How has 2014 been for you so far? I wish you all the very best in 2014. We spent a glorious week in Carmel for our baby moon. I want to go back! It was just nice to get away with Mr. ShuGar and just “be” – no distractions, no errands to run, no meals to cook or dishes to clean. Just five days of “us.”
The New Year is synonymous with resolutions, whether you adhere to them or not. I am not a huge fan of lofty resolutions, which only cause you to feel disappointed and overwhelmed. Let’s keep in real in 2014 and look at what growth we can support that lies beneath the surface.
Thank you for your kind comments about my pregnancy woes. I appreciate all the tweets, instagrams, facebook, and personal emails I received. So lucky to have you all in my life! Wow! It’s also a nice feeling knowing that I am not the only crazy one with these thoughts. Several of my sweet friends have reached out a helping hand and I am taking them up on their offer. Never underestimate the power of sisterhood.
Receiving your blog love couldn’t have happened at a better time, too. I needed this.
I am so happy to welcome you to my new and vastly improved blog! I’ve wanted to do this for so very long and I can honestly tell you it’s been a dream come true. Everything you see, from the colors, to the font (which is the Beatles’ ‘bootle’ font – of course!), to the hearts were all custom to reflect who I am as a blogger. I heart it all!
I must thank Blair from Leap Marketing & Design, who was a doll to work with. She patiently read through all my requests (which were many) and tailored everything to meet my needs. My girl, Blair, is uber-talented and, on top of that, super-duper sweet! I highly recommend using her for any of your design needs.
I still have some minor tweaking to do with my overall brand. I am so excited to work with the amazingly gifted #behappy leader, Erin, from Art Social to make this happen. Can’t wait to share the final results!
For now, please take this key and open my heart, which is my blog. I share it with you with all my love.
P.S. I plan on doing my first-ever giveway on el blog in the next few weeks to celebrate this joyous occasion! More to come!

I am so excited to share with you that I have written my first ever guest blog post on the lovely The Baking Yogi blog. Alyssa is such a sweet person and I love reading her blog all about fitness, baking and, my personal favorite, happiness! We met through the #behappylinkup, which I do every Thursday. It’s the time I dedicate to writing about happiness and love.
Well, I’ll keep it short because I want you to visit my guest post by clicking here. I wrote about friendship and how important it is to value those special, true friends in our lives. They are gifts to cherish forever, don’t ya think?
Hugs to all!
