Three Ingredients for a Successful Relationship

The ShuGars-Wedding

Hey everyone! How have you been? The ShuGars + 1 have been so busy lately. Our dear Camdie has not been sleeping and eating much lately so we’ve been a bit stressed and exhausted. Hopefully things improve soon. I have so much to share about this experience, but I have just been so tired that blogging has taken a back seat these days. I just couldn’t miss this day, though. It’s my favorite blogging day!

What ingredients constitute a successful relationship? I first thought of this topic since currently our marriage is going through some rough patches since we are all consumed by our newest addition. I know this is just a phase in the transition of welcoming our baby, but it still doesn’t make it easy. Hopefully once we are less sleep deprived, we can find our new normal.

Relationships, no matter what stage of life you are in, must be nurtured. My three relationship ingredients are…

Happy Monday to all! Hope you had a restful weekend. I wish I could say we did, but Mister Camden has decided to wake up every hour at night. I need a new word for tired.

I’ve got a special “treat” for you today. Literally. Back in the day when Mr. ShuGar and I had more free time, we used to enjoy exploring L.A.’s hidden gems. L.A. is full of special places to discover. Emma Powers from RelayRides contacted me about wanting me to write a post about one of L.A.’s hidden gems. Perfect! My post will be linked on Pinterest, where she is collecting hidden gems from all around the country. I love writing about how much I heart my city, so I agreed. Emma works for RelayRides, which is a company that operates similarly to AirBnB, but for cars. Basically, if you want to rent a car in a city, you can “share” someone’s car and you’re good to go! Pretty neat, dontcha think?

So, what’s the hidden gem I chose? It’s delicious!

TODAY’S LOVE TOPIC:

Let’s give the universe some blog love by sharing with your readers a blog you enjoy. It may be a very popular blog or simply a blog just getting started. Whatever the blog is, share with us why you love it. What makes this blog special?

Hello to all! Hope you are staying cool. It’s getting unbearable in L.A. these days. I wish I could spend all day in some cold water. If only! Today’s topic is about giving back to the blogging community. I love it! I have so many blogs I follow, so this was hard to narrow down to just one. Yet, I managed to pick one blog that I find inspiring and beautiful. My blog love is dedicated to Imogen Walters at Imogen Writes Wellbeing and here is why…

Ssshhh…Ten Secrets about The Fourth Trimester

Baby-Caring

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

I have wanted to write this post the minute I felt somewhat normal after my delivery of baby Camdie (well, almost the minute). As any first time mom would do, I read so many books about what happens in a pregnancy and how to prepare for baby, but really there is nothing I have seen about what parents, and specifically mamas, go through in the first three months after your baby is born. The term “The fourth trimester” is used by Dr. Harvey Karp to describe the first three months of a baby’s life as an extension of the womb; it’s during the fourth month and beyond (after the fourth trimester) where you see babies have more human-like characteristics.

I dedicate this post to all expectant mamas and future mamas out there. I hope this takes away the mystery of what happens after you birth your child.

So what can parents expect in the fourth trimester?

Hello, ShuGar Loves! Hope you had lots of fun in the sun this past weekend. We spend most of our time indoors with Camdie, but I enjoy going on walks with him for some fresh air. Truth be told, I can stay indoors all day and just stare at my baby. Yup, I’m madly in love.

Well, guess what? I’ve been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by my dear friend Elba from Live Colorful.

VeryInspiringAward

Gracias, Elba, for being so sweet and nominating me! Make sure to visit her colorfully beautiful blog, Live Colorful, for lots of eye candy.

So this is how the award goes:

The Rules:

1. Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
2. List the rules and display the award.
3. Share seven facts about yourself.
4. Nominate other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.

7 Things You Don’t Know About Me

1. I don’t like to put my face in the water because I hate when water gets into my nose. I know this is kind of weird. This trait of mine makes swimming rather challenging!

2. I have been to the very bottom of the world in Patagonia, Chile. It was breathtaking! I will never forget the feeling of being so far down south.

3. I’m a big nerd (hence the cover photo!). Actually, I think you probably already know this about me. I laugh at the silliest things, like Dumb and Dumber. I make funny songs for Camdie and dance funky for Mr. ShuGar. It’s who I am at heart, but only a few select people see this side of me.

4.  I am obsessed with anything Brazilian. I have studied Portuguese and hope to one day master the language. It’s a beautiful country and I have been there several times. The music, the islands, the food, the people…it’s all so intoxicating.

5. I cannot breathe around clutter and mess. It gives me a headache. I have to clean up and tidy my work space before I can get any work done. This has been a little bit more difficult with a baby in the house.

6. I still dream of being a ballerina and dancing at the American Ballet Theater. I have my ballet slippers in my closet in case the company calls me to join them!

7. No matter what life has thrown at me, I have never, ever given up on love. It’s deep in my core and it is what inspires me every day. The love in my life defines me.

The friends I nominate are:

[Home is Where the Heart is] [Inspire My Fancy] [Epic Mommy Adventures][Inkstruck Studio] [Imogen Writes Wellbeing] [Life of a Traveling Navy Wife] [Mrs AOK]

Tell me something weird/interesting/funny about you.

TODAY’S LOVE TOPIC:

Our monthly tradition of having a love free-for-all topic is next! Post anything your heart desires about love next week. The only requisite is that you share your love with the rest of us.

Hello all! It’s my favorite time of the week to talk about love. It ain’t no secret that I am a Beatles lover. I mean after all we had a Beatles wedding and used the Beatles to announce our little Camdie was coming into our lives. They’ve even inspired this entire love movement!

You may ask why I am so crazy about the Beatles. Well, the answer is simple: Love.

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

Hi friends! Things have been so busy these days. I went back to work last week and I am trying to find my newer “normal” from what has been already a “new” normal as a first time mommy.  I’d like to share more in a future post about my experience as a working mom. For the time being, allow me to gush over my three-month chubby boy.

Using descriptive language tell us what makes you smile. Describe the images that come to your head which put a grin on your face.

Hello, sweet friends! I hope you are all doing great. Have you been enjoying the World Cup? I sure have and it looks like it will be Germany and Argentina for the final match. Exciting! I lived in Argentina so you know who I am routing for.

Today’s love discussion is fun and sweet. What makes us smile? It’s such a personal answer and I thought this would be fun to share these days as I have been enjoying Camdie’s smiles lately. I am still waiting for his first giggle and I just can’t wait! Seeing him smile when we talk to him brightens up our entire day. His beautiful toothless grin got me thinking about what makes me smile.

Hello there! For my American readers, hope you enjoyed celebrating America’s birthday this weekend. We had a wonderful time with family and friends.

I have an extra special treat for you today as I’m sharing some serious bling love. Sara Murphy, who is the shop owner of this rad accessories brand called Chloe + Isabel and a ShuGar Love sponsor, has some beautiful jewelry pieces that you would adore wearing. As many of you know, I have a major addiction with accessories. If I go out of the house without wearing some bling, I feel naked.

Sara is my kind of gal – her shop’s motto is, “Life’s too short to wear boring jewelry.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Want proof? I’ll show you. Let’s swoon over some gorgeous pieces from her shop.

Behold the Morningtide Convertible Collar Necklace! You can switch out the chains if you want to mix up your style. Plus, you can also vary the look with accompanying earrings and bracelet. What I love about this necklace is how you can dress it up or dress it down. I can picture wearing it with some cute white palazzo pants or a flowly Anthropologie navy maxi dress.

Let’s have Sara explain more about this beautiful neck adornment and about her pretty shop.

“At my chloe and Isabel boutique, there’s jewelry for everyone. Classic, chic, boho, vintage… whatever your style. is!

What do you love to do to help yourself relax after a long day?

Hi sweet readers! Hope you are enjoying your summer so far. L.A. has been quite humid, which is not typical weather in these parts. I’m hoping the ocean breeze will come through.

A big thanks to Julie from Home is Where the Heart Is for taking over last week’s Love Project. She’s the best! Julie has posted today’s discussion and I kind of love this one. I find it fun reading what everyone likes to do to unwind. As for me, it’s all about bananas.
