Camden’s First Weeks

 Camden-First-Weeks

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

I’m back and I am officially a mommy! Woohoo! (triple twists and turns and cartwheels and summersaults). I’d like to start off by thanking each and every one of you for showering us with so much love as we welcomed our Camden Boy, aka ShuGar Baby. The outpouring of congratulations was so touching for us and we cherish each and every sweet message. You’re the best! Next, I’d like to acknowledge and give HUGE hugs to all my blog contributors these past couple of weeks. Weren’t these ladies super fab? Love you, girlies! I hope you continue to visit their blogs and show them some love. I thank you all for sharing of yourselves during my maternity leave.

So, in the spirit of still basking in the glow of being a recent mommy, I’d like to start a new feature on Mommy’s Corner to celebrate the birth and development of my Mister Camden. Every month of so, I’ll be sharing updates on my baby boy as an online journal so that one day he can hopefully read these posts and learn about himself.  I confess I have an ulterior motive: I’d love our sweet Camdie to reflect back on these posts and learn how much his parents adored him.

Let’s get started!

But, wait! I want more reading!

Guest Post: Tania @ Inspire My Fancy

I’m Tania Franco of the blog Inspire My Fancy! I blog about what inspires me, fashion, art, photography, and beauty. My blog is very special to me because it allows me to share, and express myself creatively. I have a full time job in the mental health field, which also allows me to be creative in a totally different way. Secretly I have always wanted to be a writer, have a job in fashion,  be surrounded by art, and live next to the ocean. So, Inspire My Fancy is my own little space where I get to do all of that.

Intro

I’m happy to be guest posting for Shugar Love today. As a mom myself, I’ve enjoyed sharing my mommy experiences with Carmen. I love this blog because Carmen always speaks from her heart, and makes me believe that my Mr. Right is out there somewhere for me. On that note, I am sharing two date looks with you all. First dates are exciting, and a little nerve racking sometimes, because you have no idea what to expect. Well, I have found feeling your best will make the date all that much enjoyable for you and your date. If you’re married, these looks will definitely impress your hubby on a date night!

Forgiveness is never an easy subject, but it’s a great way to move forward.

There will be times in your life when forgiveness is the last thing on your mind. And sometimes, the person you should be forgiving is yourself.

If you have taken a quick glance at my bio at the top of my blog, you would know that I am self-professed Jane Austen fan. One of my favorite books is Pride and Prejudice and I consider Mr. ShuGar my Mr. Darcy. I love the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice movie version and watch it every time it comes on TV. I’ve been a bad Austen fan and haven’t watched the Colin Firth one, but it’s in my house and ready for viewing while I spend many days at home taking care of ShuGar Baby. I’ve been told it’s the best version so I’m looking forward to seeing it! I’ve also repeatedly enjoyed Emma, its modern counterpart Clueless, and The Jane Austen Book Club.

While lounging around waiting for ShuGar Boy to make his debut, Mr. ShuGar obliged my addiction and we watched the film Austenland. He knows I’ve desired to watch this film the moment I saw the trailer months ago. Here is what I thought about this indie film.

Share your favorite (or one of your favorite) loves quotes. Why does this quote resonate to you? Share your heart with us!

My dearest bloggy friend, Julie, is hosting today’s All You Need is Love Project at her blog Home is Where the Heart is. Please visit her blog to link up and meet other wonderful love bloggers!

Julie chose today’s love discussion and I just had to share my quote with you all. It’s from one of my fave poets, Pablo Neruda.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close. ~Pablo Neruda (100 Love Sonnets)

This quote says it all about love.

As I prepare to be an “official mom”, I am consumed with a sense of joy and utter bliss. However, I also feel a sense of mourning that I will no longer have a cute baby bump. I know some of you may be asking yourselves, “Is she crazy?” Maybe I am, but allow me to explain further.

Guest Post: Elba @ Live Colorful

Hello ShuGar Love readers! I’m Elba Valverde, designer and blogger at Live Colorful. I am very excited to be here with you while my friend Carmen enjoys her first days as a new mommy of a gorgeous baby boy! So much excitement and love deserves a special celebration and what better way than talking a little bit about love and color.

Color fo Love

It was about 3 pm. An hour before the paint store closed when my mom had the bright idea of painting the walls a new color. We rushed to buy the paint and came home with a pair of brushes, rollers and two huge buckets of a color named Oaxaca. We made coffee and some cookies and started to paint the walls with this bright and deep orange tone.

Just like this one, I have several stories that I associate with special feelings of colors. That orange always reminds me of afternoons helping my mom with her crazy and impulsive ideas, making new cushions, designing clothes for our dogs or upholstering the dining room chairs. Mustard yellow reminds me of my dad, maybe because it is the color of his car, I remember how excited I was when I saw that yellow car coming into the garage at night. Blue is the color of my hubby for example, when we met I realized that he wore blue all the time! so I started calling him “azulito” (little blue) that by the way, he did not understand, back then he didn’t speak much Spanish, it was adorable.

After reading the beautiful posts that Carmen wrote a few days ago, love smells like chili peppers, I began to wonder, just like smells bring us those special memories, what about the things we see, what about colors?

There are a few colors that remind me how lucky I am to have such special people around me and that makes me feel so loved and happy, those are the colors of love for me, it could be orange, mustard or blue, or all of them together!

What about you, have you ever thought about what color represents love for you?

Guest Post: Kimberley @ HappyPrettyBlog

Hi ShuGar lovers! I’m so happy to be visiting today from Happy PrettyBlog so that Carmen has a chance to soak in that new baby smell and enjoy this time with Mr. ShuGar and their sweet ShuGar Boy! It brings me right back to only a little over a year ago when my own son Ben was born! What an amazing and beautiful time it is!

I wanted to share with you just one of the many reasons that I love Mrs. ShuGar so much and something that we have in common. We both have a big love for The Beatles! This love could border on obsession and if time travel were possible, I could just picture the two of us dancing along in the front row of a Beatles concert together! Oh my gosh, that would be so amazing!

Guest Post: Julie @ Home is Where the Heart is

Hello to all ShuGar Love blog followers! Today I am happy to guest post on Carmen’s blog. Let me tell you a little bit about me. My name is Julie and I blog at Home Is Where The Heart Is. I blog on news and tips on many topics in everyday life in the home. You can find me writing about kids, health, fashion, my favorite recipes, ways to make your home better, and so much more. You can check out more about me here.

Julie

Since Carmen will soon be meeting her ShuGar Boy, I thought this post would be the perfect fit for her. If you are a Mother yourself or will soon be one, you feel lots of joy when you become a Mother. That joy starts when you first find out you are pregnant. You wait about 9 months to meet that bundle of joy. When you finally do, you can’t help but smile all the time whenever you look at their face. I know I did.
