ShuGar Love Hearts You Giveaway!

ShuGar Love-Hearts-You-Giveaway

ShuGar Loves: The time has come to celebrate my sweet blog turning one! Yup, that’s right. It is my one-year blogiversary. Technically, the official start date was January 27th, but close enough. It all started with this post about My Heart in My Hands. The first line I ever wrote on this blog was, “I’m not a baby person.” Oh, how much my life has changed. I still don’t consider myself a baby person, except when it comes to ShuGar Boy. He makes my heart skip a beat!

It’s unbelievable how much blogging has enhanced my soul since this first post. I’ve always had a love for writing, ever since I was a chiquitita. For a long time, I was just taking memoir writing classes and writing in my journal. I did write some short writing pieces, but nothing at a consistent level like my blog. To be honest, I was scared to put my voice out there. Would anyone read it? Would anyone even care?

I have been embraced by the blogging community, family, and friends and it feels so wonderful! Thank you for following my ShuGar Love journey, whether you have been here since the beginning or are a new follower. I appreciate you reading, sharing, commenting, liking, tweeting, pinning, and any other way you show your love! I have big plans for this blog that are in the works. I am always trying to think of new ways to share my heart with you.

To celebrate my blogiversary and to show my appreciation, I am hosting my very first giveaway! I know bloggers do this all the time, but this is my very first one and I knew it had to be extra special for you. I am giving away to one lucky reader some things I heart, which include:

Just check out these goodies below. Wouldn’t you just love to have these items for you to love? It’s my way of giving you my heart and thanking you for your support.

The Deal with Daddy

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

Before I proceed with today’s post, I’d like to share that after doing the secondary gestational diabetes testing last week, I got my results and all my sugar levels were back to normal! (Doing cartwheels in my head!). If you are new to the blog, I revealed that I had been diagnosed with borderline gestational diabetes. My OB advised me to change my diet to avoid having to do daily blood check, insulin, etc. With the support of Mr. ShuGar, I tried to eradicate as much sugar from my diet (less than 5 grams per serving), continued with my exercise routine of cardio four times a week, and incorporated more walks after meals. It worked! I’m so relieved because I really transformed my eating habits and it was quite challenging. I am glad that I can now continue with my current low-sugar, high-fiber diet and be more at ease with my overall pregnancy health. Thanks to all who gave me e-hugs throughout this process.

Let’s talk about daddies. Going through this entire gestational diabetes process and really my entire pregnancy, I have developed a deeper perspective in terms of the role our partners play in this state of mommyhood. I even reflected on precisely this on facebook last week.  How important is having daddy present pre-baby?

Hello, hello! How was your weekend? I hope you were able to stay warm and have some fun. We were staying at my parents’ house and have finally come home to begin reorganizing after our house had the wooden floors installation. It’s still so smelly for me to sleep in our bedroom just yet, but at least now I am home to be more settled. Living from a suitcase after a while is exhausting!

In case you haven’t noticed, Love Day is just around the corner. Before I continue, I understand that this is primarily a consumer holiday manufactured by corporate America to sell love, but, despite the synthetic nature of this “holiday”, I still dig it. I’m a sucker for anything that celebrates love. Every year, Mr. ShuGar and I exchange cards with personalized heart messages inside. I’ve kept them all. No big gifts needed; just a simple reminder that we cherish each other forever. Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love either. It’s about celebrating all the love in your life, which includes family and friends.

Above are some love cards I heart. Aren’t they so cute? I’d want them all; one for each year!

Which ones are your faves? How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day every year?

Happy Monday!

Mrs. ShuGar Reviews: Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska

Inside-Llewyn-Davis-PosterNebraska-Movie-Poster

Hi there! We’re shaking things up a bit in ShuGar Love land and reviewing two movies this week. There is a method to my madness, so trust me! My feelings about both of these movies are similar, therefore, in the interest of time (The Oscars are coming!), I decided to do a double feature post.

Over the winter break, Mr. ShuGar and I saw Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska and below are my thoughts on these two films.

Say My Name

alphabet

Hi ShuGar Loves!

How are you? I am surviving on very little sleep these days as I commute from my parents’ house to my job. It’s killing me, but the varnish smell is still too strong for me to be in our house just yet. I need a nap right about now!

For my last preggo update, I revealed that we picked a name for our ShuGar Boy! It was much harder than I thought. For some reason, we had already picked out girl’s names and we had a harder time coming into agreement for boy’s names. No revealing of the name just yet. It’s top secret until we meet our little man!

This whole naming process got me thinking about names in general. What’s really in a name? Do names reveal our personalities or vice versa?

Caring for Baby

Baby-Care-Class

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

Hello, friends! I hope you were able to enjoy a long, three day weekend. We sure did! We’ve been crashing at my parents’ house as the fumes of the wooden floors installation subside. It’s not good for baby to smell the strong varnish. I feel like our entire life is in boxes at the moment. It’s a bit of a mess, but I look forward to getting back home to begin the redecorating process!

This past weekend, we attended our first baby care class. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if we would be the only ones.  I was pleasantly surprised with the class and I’d like to share the tidbits of knowledge we acquired. Picture a room full of dolls and anxious parents all seated around rectangular tables eager to soak everything in.

A Week in the Life: Week 4

Window-Fun

A Week in the Life is a photo inspiration series to document every day moments in my ShuGar life.

Happy Friday, friends! This week was filled to the brim with activities. I’m happy the weekend is finally here, although we have a bunch of activities to do as well. Most importantly, we are taking our very first baby class. Woohoo! I can’t wait to get schooled on all things baby. I am ready. I find that the more I read or learn about baby, the less I feel stressed. It’s the unknown that scares me. I’ll share more for next week’s Mommy’s Corner.

Let’s do some pictures, shall we?

A Door to Our Soul

Carmel-Old-Door

Hello, sweet friends! We have now officially moved out of our house temporarily for the wooden floor installation. It’s actually happening! Eeep! ShuGar Boy is going to have a whole new floor to play on. We’ll be bouncing around hotels and my parents’ house for the next few days waiting for the fumes to subside. In the meantime, let’s talk about life and all that jazz =)

As I have mentioned before, I have a thing for photographing doors. I’ve always been fascinated by the craftsmanship in a door, but also what it symbolizes for a home (and for life).

Sugar & Think Twice

Pure-Sugar

Mommy’s Corner is a weekly series exploring our journey in becoming parents, our love for our ShuGar baby, and general topics related to mommyhood.

Hello, my dear followers! I hope everyone is feeling fab. I have been under the weather and drowning in moving our house around for the wooden floors installation, so I apologize if I have not responded to your sweet comments yet. I will get to them, but it may be delayed. I appreciate each and every time you leave a comment. It warms my heart!

For this week’s Mommy’s Corner, I’d like to delve deeper into my diagnosis of having borderline gestational diabetes (GD). As you know, I like to be candid on my blog and share my journey in the hopes that someone will identify and not feel so alone. This is a safe space.
